Manu: Cultural Zone

We leave Cusco early in the morning in our comfortable bus. We ascend to the heights of Paucartambo. On the way we visit the funeral towers or Chullpas Ninamarca. Then we descend through the mysterious cloud forest full of beautiful orchids, heliconias and primitive ferns; taking breaks to give the opportunity to witness the bird "Cock of the Rock "(rupicola peruvian) in the mating ritual. There are also possibilities to observe trogons (Trogon sp.) and more. If we get luck we'll see the only South American bear, the spectacled bear (Tremarctos ornatus). In the afternoon we'll arrive at the port of Atalaya where we board the boat -30 minutes- until Paititi Lodge where we stay in our typical hostel bathrooms and showers.

After a delicious breakfast, we'll continue our walk to the lookout to explore the trails around the lodge and other activities. Overnight in Hostel with toilets and showers available.

Very early we'll go by boat to the green Parrot's Collpa which shows of 3-4 species of birds. Then we return by boat to Machuwasi to go to hike into the forest, arriving as well to Machuwasi lagoon where we expect rafts or catamarans for sailing about 1 hour, watching a variety of birds, monkeys, small reptiles, dwarf caimans and insects . In the afternoon we return to our lodge for lunch. In the evening we will have a night walk. Overnight in Hostel with toilets and showers available.

After our delicious breakfast we'll return by boat from  Paititi hostel to the lookout where we expect the bus back, through the mysterious cloud forest again bound for the city of Cusco. Approximate Arrival: 6:30 - 7pm.
